Privacy Policy for PicsFold
Last updated: May 23rd 2026
PicsFold is designed as a private, local-first photo organization app. The main purpose of PicsFold is to let you take, import, store, organize, view, and manage photos inside the app on your own device.
Your photos are yours. PicsFold does not upload your photos, videos, thumbnails, folders, albums, or private media library to any external server.
1. Introduction
PicsFold is developed by Onur Arda Öz (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how PicsFold handles information when you use the app.
PicsFold is built around a local-first approach. Most of the information you create or manage inside the app stays on your device. Optional technical services may be used for crash reporting and analytics, as explained below.
By using PicsFold, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the app.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
PicsFold stores certain information locally on your device so the app can function properly. This may include:
- Photos and media you take or import into PicsFold
- Thumbnails and optimized copies generated for faster display
- Folder names, folder colors, folder icons, ordering, and organization data
- Favorite status, deletion status, creation dates, and similar library metadata
- App settings such as language, gallery layout, grouping preferences, camera settings, and privacy settings
- Optional location metadata if you enable location features
- Optional onboarding answers, such as why you plan to use PicsFold
This information is used to provide PicsFold’s core functionality. We do not have access to this local content unless you choose to export, share, back up, or send it somewhere yourself.
3. Photos and Media
PicsFold does not send your photos or videos to any external server.
This includes:
- Original photos
- Imported photos
- Photos taken with the in-app camera
- Thumbnails
- Folder covers
- Hidden or organized media
- Local albums and folders inside PicsFold
PicsFold stores and organizes this media locally on your device. Your photos and videos are not used for advertising, profiling, AI training, or remote processing.
If you use sharing, exporting, backup, or system share-sheet features, the selected files may be sent to the destination you choose, such as another app, cloud storage service, messaging app, or operating system feature. In that case, the privacy practices of that destination service apply.
4. Photo Library Access
PicsFold may request access to your device’s photo library so you can import photos into the app.
Depending on your device and operating system settings, you may be able to grant access to selected photos only or to a broader library permission. PicsFold uses this permission only to let you select, import, save, or manage photos as requested by you.
PicsFold does not scan your photo library for advertising, profiling, user tracking, or behavioral analysis.
5. Camera Access
PicsFold may request camera permission so you can take photos directly inside the app.
Photos taken with the in-app camera are stored inside PicsFold or in the destination you choose. They are not uploaded to any external server by PicsFold.
6. Location Access
PicsFold may offer optional location features, such as saving where a photo was taken or displaying address information for a photo.
Location access is optional. If you do not enable location permission, PicsFold will not collect location from your device.
If location features are enabled, location data may be stored locally with the relevant photo metadata. PicsFold does not use location data for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
If the app uses your device’s system services to convert coordinates into an address or to open a map, your device or the map/geocoding provider may process that request according to its own privacy practices.
7. Crash Reporting
PicsFold may use Firebase Crashlytics to help identify crashes, bugs, and stability issues.
Crash reporting is enabled by default to help keep the app stable. You can disable crash reporting during onboarding or later in the app’s privacy settings.
Crash reporting may send limited technical diagnostic information to Firebase/Google, such as:
- App version
- Device model
- Operating system version
- Crash time
- Stack traces
- Error logs
- Basic device state at the time of the crash
- Anonymous installation or device identifiers used for diagnostics
Crash reports are used only to improve app stability and fix technical problems.
PicsFold does not intentionally send your photos, videos, thumbnails, folder names, folder contents, private media library, or personal photo content to Crashlytics.
8. Analytics
PicsFold may use Firebase Analytics to help understand general app usage and improve the app.
Analytics is disabled by default. You can enable analytics during onboarding or later in the app’s privacy settings.
If you enable analytics, PicsFold may send limited usage information to Firebase/Google, such as:
- App opens
- General feature usage
- Onboarding choices, such as intended use category
- Basic device and app information
- General interaction events, such as whether a feature was used
Analytics is used to understand broad usage patterns and improve the app. It is not used to collect your photos, videos, thumbnails, folder names, private media content, or personal photo library.
PicsFold does not use analytics for third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling user data.
You can turn analytics off in the app’s privacy settings. If analytics is disabled, PicsFold will stop sending analytics events from that point forward.
9. Onboarding Answers
PicsFold may ask simple onboarding questions, such as what you plan to use the app for. These questions help personalize the app experience and understand which features may be useful.
Unless clearly stated otherwise in the app, onboarding answers are stored locally on your device.
If analytics is enabled, some onboarding answers may be sent as anonymous or pseudonymous analytics data. These answers should not include your name, email address, photos, folder names, or private media content.
10. Purchases and Subscriptions
If PicsFold offers paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases, purchases may be processed by the App Store, Google Play, or another official platform payment provider.
We do not receive or store your full payment card number, bank information, or payment credentials.
The app may receive limited purchase status information, such as whether a subscription or purchase is active, so that paid features can be unlocked.
11. Device Backups and Cloud Services
PicsFold does not upload your photos to any external server.
However, your device operating system may offer backup or cloud features, such as iCloud Backup, iCloud Drive, Google backup, device transfer, or similar services. Depending on your device settings and how the app is configured, app data may be included in device-level backups.
These backups are controlled by your device, operating system, or cloud account settings. PicsFold does not control those services.
12. Third-Party Services
PicsFold may use third-party services to support app stability, diagnostics, and optional analytics.
Firebase Crashlytics
Firebase Crashlytics may be used for crash reporting and technical diagnostics. Crash reporting is enabled by default and can be disabled in the app’s privacy settings.
Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics may be used for app usage analysis. Analytics is disabled by default and can be enabled during onboarding or in the app’s privacy settings.
Optional crash reporting and analytics may send limited technical diagnostic or usage information to Firebase/Google. However, PicsFold does not send your photos, videos, thumbnails, folder names, folder contents, or private media content to Firebase, Google, or any other external server.
PicsFold does not use third-party advertising SDKs for behavioral advertising or cross-app tracking.
13. What We Do Not Do
PicsFold does not:
- Upload your photos or videos to any external server
- Upload your thumbnails, folders, albums, or private media library to any external server
- Sell your personal data
- Sell your photos
- Use your photos for AI training
- Use your photos for advertising
- Scan your private photo library for profiling
- Share your private media with advertisers
- Track you across other apps and websites for advertising
- Require an account for basic local photo organization, unless a future feature clearly states otherwise
14. Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app, clear app data, or use an in-app deletion feature.
Crash reports and analytics data, if enabled, may be retained by Firebase/Google according to their service settings and retention practices.
If you delete the app, local PicsFold data stored inside the app may also be deleted by the operating system. Photos that you exported or saved outside PicsFold may remain in the destination where you saved them.
15. Data Deletion and User Control
You can control your data in the following ways:
- Delete photos or folders inside PicsFold
- Disable crash reporting in privacy settings
- Enable or disable analytics in privacy settings
- Revoke photo library, camera, or location permissions in your device settings
- Delete the app to remove app-local data, subject to your device backup settings
- Contact us for privacy-related requests
Because PicsFold is primarily local-first and does not require a personal account, we may not be able to identify or access your local app data from our side.
16. Security
PicsFold uses device storage and operating system protections to keep app data on your device.
No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, device passcode, biometric lock, cloud backup settings, and any files you export or share outside PicsFold.
17. Children’s Privacy
PicsFold is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in a way that requires parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
18. International Data Processing
If crash reporting or analytics is enabled, limited technical diagnostic or usage data may be processed by Firebase/Google in countries other than your country of residence.
By using these optional features, you understand that such technical data may be processed according to the relevant third-party service provider’s infrastructure and policies.
19. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make important changes, we may notify users in the app or update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of PicsFold after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
